Vodafone Ghana has launched a nation-wide coding program to benefit 10,000 Ghanaian youths in the country.
The program, according to the telecommunication company, is to ignite Ghana’s digital revolution.
Delivering her speech at the press conference last Friday, Yolanda Zoleka Cuba, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana said, the national coding program is part of a concerted approach to touching lives through the power of technology and innovation.
“Coding is a must have skilled to all teenagers and the youth in the current world as they strive to have dominion over the future generation”. She said.
The telecom company intends to train young people across the country in coding skills to enable them build websites and other applications for the growth of the country.
Ms. Yolanda urged interested persons to visit their website and register or call their call centres for assistance.
She said the company is poised to lead the journey into total digital inclusion in Ghana.
“We will continue with other programs that ensure that people are actually moving as technology advances, so while this is the basic kind of introduction for young people, there are other programs that will take us to the next level.
Vodafone Ghana Foundation will continue to deliver pioneering digital initiative in line with strategic vision of digitally leaving no one behind.” She stressed.
On his part, Hon Vincent Sowah Odotei, Deputy Minister of Communications expressed delight with the program introduced by the telecom company.
“When we can transform the lives of the Ghanaian youth through coding, our future world of technology as a country is in safe hands,” he said.
