12 Trouble Makers Caged

TWELVE MEN are in hot waters as they have been caged on suspicion of robberies and kidnappings in and around the Ashanti region.

The 12 suspects includes Bube Baru aka ‘Jawuga’, 29, Abdulai Mahamadu, 29, Karim Abdulai, 37, Suleman Ali, 32, Yussif Musah, who is 40 years old.

The rest are Halidu Ali, 25, Ali Adams, 40, Abubakari Gariba , 20, Gariba Maamu, 40, Bella Amadu, 27, Ali Ibrahim, 20 years old and Alidu Amadu, 18.

ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), in a statement, said the suspects were arrested at Ejura, Mampong and Akomadan areas.

He said the suspects have for some time now been terrorising residents of Ejura, Mampong and Akomadan, adding “some of their victims have identified them”.

Surprisingly, he disclosed, the suspects, though are of Funali origin, targeted even heir fellow Fulani people, who are mainly herdsmen “by either robbing of kidnapping them”.

According to him, the district courts of Ejura, Akomadan and Mampong have since remanded the suspects into police custody, to reappear in court soon.

ASP Ahianyo said the police believe that the suspects have been involved in more robberies and kidnappings “so we are urging victims to come and identify them”.
