THERE WERE melancholic scenes at Atwima Tabre New Site in the Ashanti Region on Saturday when a boy drowned in a river.
The deceased, identified as Williams Kyei, was said to be swimming with his friends in the river, when he suddenly got drowned.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that Kyei and his friends were having fun in the Owabi River as they usually do in their leisure times.
However, this time around calamity struck suddenly as Kyei, who had dived deep into the river, could not return to the shore.
Kyei’s friends then rushed to the house and informed Yaw Amoah, 59 years old, who is the grandfather of the now deceased boy.
Mr. Amoah, who was traumatized, then lodged complaint at the Kokoben Police Station, who also rushed to the Owabi River.
A police report said the body was found on the shores of the river and the complainant identified the body as that of Williams Kyei.
“During inspection a whitish fluid was found coming out from the nostrils”, a police report seen by the NEW PUBLISHER said.
The body has since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy to help determine what killed the 12 year old boy.
Meanwhile, the police have started investigations to unearth the real cause of Kyei’s death.
