18 Killed in Road Crashes in Kumasi
IT WAS a bloody Monday in the Ashanti region as two separate gory road accidents claimed the lives of 18 people.
Thirteen people died in the first crash, which occurred at Akwatiakrom, near Mankranso, on the main Kumasi/Sunyani highway around 2am.
The second accident, which also happened on the main Nyinahini/Kumasi highway around 9am, claimed five lives.
Several people sustained life-threatening injuries, especially in the second accident, and are currently being treated in the hospital.
First Crash
The first accident, reportedly, occurred when a Ford Bus, from the Sunyani area, veered from its lane and rammed into an oncoming truck.
All thirteen passengers in the Ford bus, aside the driver and his mate, died instantly.
Surprisingly, the spot of the crash was a few meters away from where Ebony Reigns, a popular musician, had died with her friends in a similar crash recently.
Eye witnesses blamed the Ford driver, who they suspect was dozing off behind the steering wheel, for the accident.
Second Crash
In the second crash, which happened on the Nyinahini/Kumasi, a mini bus heading to the Kumasi direction, had a front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
Five people were reported dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
