Some 193 staff of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have sued the state agency and its Director-General, Eric Nana Agyeman-Prempeh, for what they describe as unlawful demotion and transfers.
According to the aggrieved staff, who were all directors of the organisation in various districts across the country, in January 2018, the Director-General issued appointment notices to executives of the governing New Patriotic Party as acting district directors of NADMO at a time they were occupying those positions.
The aggrieved workers say they were immediately issued transfer letters to different parts of the country as ordinary staff.
According to them, the move is against their conditions of service, against the Public Service Commission’s regulations and an affront to the new NADMO law.
Among the reliefs they are seeking is an order that their transfers, not having been effected in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the conditions of the service of NADMO, is unlawful, and, thus, should be rendered null and void.
They are also seeking an order that the purported appointment of acting district directors, not having been done according to laid down rules and conditions of service, and not being in consultation with the public services commission, is unlawful, null and void, and same must be reversed.
