2 KUMACA Students Dead; 3 On Admission
Two first-year students of Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) in the Ashanti Region are reported dead after being affected by an unknown ailment. They were rushed to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Hospital on Friday, 1 December for emergency treatment.
Three others are also on admission at the same hospital. An autopsy carried out on one of the students could not reveal clearly the cause of death, but meningitis has been ruled out.
Blood samples of the deceased have subsequently been sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute in Accra for further assessment. The school authorities are, however, silent on the matter.
It will be recalled that four deaths and 26 cases of meningitis were reported in the region in April this year.
