The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has disclosed that government of Ghana will spend an amount of $2.5 in developing sports infrastructure in 2019.
Ken Ofori-Atta during the presentation of 2019 budget statement and economic policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 15, revealed that the $2.5 million fund will be used to invest in the sporting sector to be able to achieve its target.
The budget stated that Ghana would be hosting a number of international competitions such as Confederation of African Football Women’s Nations Cup(AWCON 2018) and have also won the bid to host 2023 All African Games.
”Mr Speaker, sports continue to be one of the key unifying factors in our country, bringing all of us together as one irrespective of our differences.” adding that, the Accra Sports Stadium has been renovated after a decade of neglect.
The Minister Of Finance also stated that government has additionally invested in 10 youth and sports centres of excellence in each of the 10 regions of Ghana which are at various stages of completion.
