For a show that was sold out days before the main day, the 2019 edition of the Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO) concert was beyond expectations as prolific musicians rocked hundreds of music lovers at the National Theatre last Saturday.
In its 2nd Edition, the Citi FM’s Music of Ghanaian Origin Concert (MOGO) is an event that celebrates great music acts from the soil of the continent. It also creates a platform where the live-band performers have direct encounter with their fans.
Opening the show, Afro Soul artiste, Cina Soul rocked the stage with a spectacular performance that left the audience asking for more.
Her 10-minute performance which was full of energy had the audience on their feet the whole time ended with her highly popular song Ojorle.
When the highlife artiste, Kwabena Kwabena climbed on stage, the dancing floor had no space as the music performer thrilled audience with his love songs plus other genre of hit songs. The music icon performed songs such as “Bue kwan ma me”, “Asor”, “sweet baby,” to “begye me,” there was no end to the excitement and thrill served the patrons who called for more after the performance.
The voices and instrumentals of Bessa Simons and his Bessa band brought energy to the stage and simply shook the house for 30 minutes of nonstop music as the crowd sang along.
The band performed The Coffee Song, Fire, and Gong-gong, all hit songs of Osibisa which Bessa Simon played for in the past as a keyboardist.
Other musicians that rocked the night included Kofi B, Akwaboah, K.K Kabobo, Adane best, Kwan Pa, Amandzeba and many others.
The night had music from the past, the present and the future of Ghana’s highlife music. MOGO 2019 was sponsored by Freight Consult and Club Beer with support from Citi TV.
It forms part of activities lined up to mark Citi FM’s Heritage Month which is held in the month of March every year to celebrate Ghana’s culture, heritage and to promote tourism.
