Muslims across the country gathered yesterday, May 3, 2022 at the Independence Square to mark the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, addressing the thousands of Muslims at the venue said government is committed to the development of Zongo communities all over the country, adding that, some major projects are ongoing in the area of health, roads, among others.

“The Zongo Development Fund has completed about 200 projects and commissioned many of them and many others will soon be commissioned. The construction of the model SHSs will start this year.

The National Chief Imam on his part expressed his anticipation towards the promise to build model schools in some Zongo communities across the country.

“The Chief Imam says he looks forward to the government’s intended model schools in the Zongo communities. The Chief Imam is waiting for the day when sword cutting will take place. Finally, the Chief Imam prays for President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia for good health, God’s guidance, and support”, Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheik Aremeyaw indicated.

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. It begins with the sighting of the moon.

Fasting in Ramadan involves abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking, and sexual relations from dawn to sunset.

Ramadan for Muslims is a month of reflection, and self-improvement in relation to one’s behaviour towards other people, oneself, and Allah.
