2024 elections will be like ‘cine’ for NDC – Bawumia

Vice President and flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has indicated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will receive a shock when the party is defeated in the upcoming December 2024 general elections.

“They are going round claiming that they have won the 2024 elections already; that is the noise they have been making but let me tell them that it will like ‘cine’ to them when they lose the election”, he disclosed

The NPP flag-bearer, revealed that the track record of the NPP is unmatched and that the NDC has nothing to show for throughout their regime.

“They think we have short memories. We saw how the economic growth collapsed when they took over from President Kufour coming down to 3.4% from over 8% that they inherited, we saw low agricultural, industrial growth and an economy that did not face crisis such as covid-19 and the Ukraine crisis but they had to cancel teacher training allowances , Nurses training allowances and they could not think of how to implement Free Senior High School.” He explained

Dr. Bawumia noted that despite covid-19 and the Ukraine crisis , the NPP has done better than the NDC without any crisis.

“ We have done better than the NDC when you talk about performance because we have doubled agriculture growth rate , we have performed higher in industry growth , when they were creating unemployment we are creating jobs of over 2.1 million , 1.2 million jobs in the public sector and 975,000 jobs in the private sector.”

The Vice President who was addressing NPP supporters at the 30th Anniversary of NPP-USA, said despite all the crisis the government faced, they were still recruiting more nurses and other workers.

“ Despite covid-19 we didn’t not lay off any public sector workers, and so we have created more jobs than any other government in the history of the Ghana since 1957. 2.1 million jobs no government has that record.”

He stated that the NPP government has built more roads than any government in the history of Ghana even though there is still more work to be done: “the data is clear we have built more airports, railway lines , courts , hospitals, fish landing sites, sanitation facilities , equipped the security, sports facilities , classrooms than any government since independence.”

Dr. Bawumia indicated that the NPP government is focused on how to prepare Ghana for fourth industrial revolution and therefore will be deterred by the NDC’s propaganda.

“The fundamental instrument for any country for the full participation of the fourth industrial revolution is digital identity which brought about the Ghana card with about 17.6 million citizens being registered on the Ghana card and the unique identification of the Ghana card is helping us to deal with corruption in the area of ‘Ghost’ workers.”

He expressed his appreciation to the NPP-USA branch and called for their continuous support to the party to ensure that the NPP breaks the 8.
