THE LIFE of a 23-year-old rich boy, suspected without evidence to be a kingpin in the Internet Fraud business also known as ‘Sakawa’, has been cut short.
Akwasi Boakye was shot dead in his rented apartment at Kronum Abuohia in the Suame Municipality on Wednesday by unknown assailants.
The killers, according to eye witnesses report, stormed Akwasi Boakye’s house and initially feigned that they were to do business with him.
Akwasi Boakye, who was in his room then, was told that some people were after him. The killers shot him immediately he stepped out from his room.
Surprisingly, the killers did not take any valuable item from Akwasi Boakye’s room. They fled the scene after they had shot him at close range.
Residents of Kronum Abuohia have started given different narrations about what may have influenced the killers to assassinate Akwasi Boakye.
Some said Akwasi Boakye was killed because of a new Range Rover car he bought recently, others said he was killed because he cheated on his friends.
The lifeless body of the ‘Sakawa’ boy has since been deposited in a morgue for preservation as the police are investigating the shooting.
