Three out of the 31 people, who died in a ghastly vehicle crash on the Kintampo road, have been identified by officials, so far.
A total of 31 passengers lost their lives when two buses crashed head-on. The incident has generated sad feelings across the country.
The buses sparked fire after the impact of the crash, and so all the people in the two cars, with the exception of six, were burnt to death.
The burns disfigured the bodies of the 31 passengers therefore it is becoming almost impossible for the bodies to be identified by three families.
ASP Brobbey, the Kintampo North MTTD Commander, said only three out of the 31 dead persons have been identified so far by officials.
“The bodies have been burnt beyond recognition and we have only identified three persons so far”, he said on Nhyira FM in Kumasi.
“The two drivers have been identified based on the places that they were seated in the mangled vehicles and we have also identified a policeman by his uniform”.
The police officer indicated that six people, onboard the two vehicles, including a pregnant woman, survived the deadly accident.
He said the six injured persons have since been treated and discharged from hospital, adding that investigations are still underway.
Officials are contemplating a mass burial for the 31 deceased persons, as their identification is becoming impossible so far.
