3 HAWKS SUSPECTS IN POLICE GRIPS
THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command is making a headway in their bid to get to the bottom of the killing of a man at National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in Kumasi.
Three people, whose names were mentioned as part of 12 suspects in the infamous shooting to death of Abdul Wasiu, 35, a member of the NDC Taskforce, are in police grips now.
The suspects include Abdul Ganiyu, 37, popularly known as ‘Petit’, Dauda Ibrahim, affectionately called ‘Wayo’, who is 40 years old and Samuel Agyin aka ‘Rock’, who is 32 years old.
The trio personally surrendered themselves to the police at the Ashanti Regional Police Comand on Thursday afternoon, barely one-week after police had declared them wanted.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), said the trio are now under arrest, adding that the police would interrogate them thoroughly for information.
He also announced that the police are doing everything possible to help apprehend the nine other suspects, who are still at large, so that the truth about Wasiu killing would come out.
Abdul Wasiu, believed to be a member of the NDC Taskforce in the Ashanti region, left the world in a sour note after he was shot about six times in front of NDC office in Kumasi on Monday, April 18.
Another person, Abdul Rahman aka ‘West’, also believed to be a member of the NDC Taskforce, suffered gunshot wounds after he tried to snatch the gun from the killer of Wasiu.
The police declared 12 people, who are believed to be part of the Hawks, another rival NDC vigilante group, wanted in connection with the shooting to death of Abdul Wasiu.
