3 Year Old Baby Burnt To Death

RESIDENTS OF Nkenkensu, in the Offinso North District in the Ashanti Region, were thrown into a state mourning after a blaze burnt a three year old girl into ashes.

The sad incident happened around dawn of Monday when a ferocious fire gutted a five bedroom house in the hitherto peaceful community, resulting in the death of the young girl.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Boss for Offinso North, Elijah Mammoah, who witnessed the incident, said the inhabitants of the house were then asleep.

From nowhere, he recounted, a fire started from one of the rooms and it swept through the entire house with speed, sparking fear and tension among the people.

According to Mammoah, the inhabitants of the house woke up from their sleep and raced from their rooms to safety, but sadly the young girl could not flee from danger.

The NADMO boss in Offinso North District noted that people at the scene quickly called fire fighters and officials of NADMO to help douse the fire, but they faced a difficult task.

Mammoah said the fire was eventually doused and they realized that the young girl had been burnt beyond recognition. The body had since been dumped in the morgue.

The NADMO boss said his outfit and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are still investigating to unravel what caused the fire outbreak, which unfortunately killed the young girl.
