The Accra Indie Filmfest has partnered with Kyooto Media Group based in Uganda and Unique Motion Media Konsult based in Nigeria for this year’s edition of AiF FilmArt and to be held in Ghana, Nigeria, and Uganda.
AiF FilmArt is a flagship Pan-African film incubation program as part of the annual Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) for young and emerging filmmakers already in the business of filmmaking who need supported opportunities to develop their craft.
This Accra Indie Filmfest, Kyooto Media Group, and Unique Motion Media Konsult partnership will give 100 underrepresented emerging screenwriters in both Nigeria and Uganda the opportunity to collaborate with young filmmaking teams in Ghana.
Screenwriting workshops will be held in Uganda and Nigeria to be facilitated by Kyooto Media Group and Unique Motion Media Konsult respectively whiles the Filmmaking Workshop will be held in Ghana and facilitated by Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF).
At the end of the program, two short films will be produced and premiered as part of the Accra Indie Filmfest 2023 to a live audience. These films would also be submitted to other international film festivals to increase the visibility of the participating screenwriters and filmmakers beyond Accra Indie Filmfest.
Screenwriting workshop participation opens on 10th February 2023 for Ugandans and 24th February 2023 for Nigerians for young and emerging screenwriters who are current residents of these two countries.
Filmmaking workshop participation opens on 20th March 2023 to young and emerging filmmakers based in Ghana occupying production roles including; directing, producing, editing, cinematography, and sound design.
This program is designed to foster cultural and experiential exchanges between West Africa (Ghana and Nigeria) and East Africa (Uganda) and birth new narratives that will contribute to the growth of African cinema.
Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) is an international short film festival in Ghana, with the dedication to creating more value for emerging filmmakers across the world through the production of short films.
This year marks the 5th edition of the festival and is slated for 31st July to 5th August 2023. It promises to be the amplified version of the previous editions with several other programs to be unveiled as part of the festival.
