4 Year Old Defilement Claim: Report Tells No Hymen Broken
A medical report into the alleged defilement of a 4-year old girl at Assin Adadientem in the Central Region has found, the hymen intact with no evidence of bleeding.
The parents of the girl who sent their daughter for medical examination had maintained little girl bled for three days.
Her mother said the victim grimaced when she tried to bath her in the evening of October 14 when the girl was allegedly defiled by an 18-year old suspect, Kwabena.
Attempts to prevail on traditional authority in the area to have the suspect punished was allegedly frustrated by a chief.
The chief was reported to have said, the gods have ruled the suspect innocent. The Police in Assin Fosu have failed to pick up the suspect more than a week after the parents lodged a complaint.
A Joy News report into the alleged incident has thrown public attention to the girl’s condition.
Since the media report, the state has revived its interest in the matter. The Central Regional Commander of the Police Service has summoned the Divisional Commander of Assin Fosu, Chief Superintendent Henry Bacho.
The Gender and Social Protection Ministry has been asked to intervene and get justice for the child.
But it has emerged that a doctor’ s examination at the St. Francis Xavier hospital at Assin Fosu found out that there were no lacerations indicative of forceful penetration.
The vulva was however moist and looked inflamed. A screening for infection also turned out negative.
Dr. Bernard Brew who conducted the exams put the girl on anti-biotics and directed her parents to report to the police.
