40 Chase NPP Posts in Ashanti
FORTY New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in good standing will be vying for regional executive positions in the party’s stronghold of Ashanti region tomorrow, Saturday April 21.
Members who would be endorsed by the party’s delegates would be mandated to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
The historic internal election would, for the first time, take place at Ejura, Mr. Frederick Fredua Anto, officer-in-charge of the Ashanti Regional NPP polls, has said.
According to him, the election venue had been moved to Ejura, where the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) triumphed during the 2016 parliamentary polls, for strategic reasons.
F.F. Anto revealed that the NPP had resolved to wrest the Ejura constituency seat from the NDC come the 2020 elections, hence the decision to move the regional elections to the area to announce the NPPs presence there.
In a related development, THE PUBLISHER has gathered that the level of interest and momentum that the elections generated some weeks ago had reduced, following Mr. Asare Bediako’s decision to bow out of the chairmanship race.
The shocking decision therefore means Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, would be endorsed by popular acclamation on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the paper has learnt that the race for other regional positions would be keenly contested.
