ABOUT 40 LABOURERS, working on the Sewua Regional Hospital, in the Ashanti Region, have tested positive for COVID-19.
As a precautionary measure, the affected labourers have been isolated to help prevent the spread of the deadly disease among their colleagues.
This latest development is reported to have delayed construction works on the 250-bed capacity hospital, which is nearing completion.
This came to light when the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, paid a working visit to the construction site at Sewua on Monday.
The Minister, who was accompanied by top officials of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), was at the site to personally assess the progress of work.
Kwaku Agyeman Manu expressed gross concern about reports that 40 labourers, working on the hospital project have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Health Minister openly wished the affected labourers speedy recovery so that they could return to work and help in the completion of the project.
Agyeman Manu lamented that the citizenry seems not to be adhering to health protocols, offered by health experts to avert the spread of the virus.
He passionately appealed to Ghanaians to strictly adhere to health protocols so that the spread of the disease would be reduced and save lives.
The Health Minister stated that President Nana Akufo-Addo has done more than enough to stop the spread of the virus “so we must help him”.
