5 Chinese Grabbed Over Galamsey

FIVE CHINESE nationals are in hot waters after they were arrested for allegedly indulging in illegal mining, also known as ‘Galamsey’.

The suspects were reportedly picked up in a forest at Amomaso in the Ashanti region on Monday, November 20, this year.

The Operation Vanguard members had information about the illegal activities of the Chinese nationals so they stormed the area and arrested them.

Sources said a few weeks ago, river bodies in the area started getting brownish in colour, raising eyebrows among residents.

The people probed further and true to their suspicion, they realized that some Chinese nationals were secretly mining for gold in the forest.

They therefore informed the Operation Vanguard team, who immediately went into action.

The Chinese nationals were subsequently trailed and eventually arrested whilst they were indulging in illegal mining on Monday, sources hinted the paper.
