5 Member Committee Probes 7 ‘Robbers’ Shooting
A FIVE-Member Committee has been set up by government to independently probe the circumstances that led to the recent shooting to death of seven suspected robbers by the police at Manso Nkwanta.
The committee, inaugurated on Monday, has a one-month period to finish its investigations, make recommendations and submit their report to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah.
This was contained in a press statement, from the office of the Regional Minister after the inauguration of the committee, which was done behind closed doors at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC).
Highlighting the composition of the committee, the statement said “It is made up of a representative from the Christian community, Muslim community and a representative from the Regional BNI”.
The statement added that “A representative of the Regional Coordinating Council will also be a member, and it will be chaired by a Justice of the Superior Court in the Ashanti Region”.
There were series of protests, it would be recalled, in the Zongo communities in Kumasi recently, as the youth disagreed that the seven victims killed by the police are armed robbers. The committee is to investigate the shooting.
