Six persons died instantly while, 15 others sustained various degrees of injuries when two vehicles crashed head-on, on the Tema – Aflao road on Friday.
The accident occurred at a location near Sege in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region.
The Sege Divisional Police Commander DSP George Aboagye, who disclosed the accident to the media, said a Toyota Hiace with registration GT 9125 – 12, travelling from Aflao, in an attempt to avoid a motorbike parked by the roadside rammed into a Sprinter minibus with registration GC 7364 – 12 from the opposite direction.
While the injured passengers are responding to treatment at the Battor Catholic Hospital, the deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital. The deceased have not been identified as at the time the report was filed.
The Sprinter bus had 15 passengers onboard while the Toyota Hiace was carrying 12 passengers.
Earlier that evening, another road crash occurred at Kasseh on the same road which also left many people severely injured.
The Police had to disperse an angry crowd near Sege after a speeding vehicle knocked down pedestrians a few weeks ago.
