Six people (all women) were on Tuesday confirmed dead in a gory motor accident that occurred at Koluedor in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region.
According to the police, 19 other victims with various degrees of life-threatening injuries have been hospitalized.
The Ada West District Police Commander, DSP George Aboagye, who confirmed the story, told The New Publisher that the accident, which occurred around 2pm, involved a Sprinter Bus with registration number GT 5939-19 and a Hyundai Tescon, with Registration No. GX 9588-8.
Even though he could not readily tell what caused the accident, eye-witnesses told the paper that the Hyundai Tescon, which was moving towards Tema, was avoiding a reckless motor (okada) rider when it veered into the on-coming Sprinter Bus carrying 33 passengers towards Aflao.
DSP Aboagye said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Ada East District Hospital Morgue, while the injured victims were being treated at the same Hospital.
The two drivers, the Commander indicated, sustained minor injuries and were discharged after treatment at Ada East District Hospital.
He assured that his Command is investigating the cause of the accident, and advised drivers to be careful on the road, especially as the annual Asafotufiami festival of the Chiefs and people of Ada traditional area is fast approaching.
