8 Perish! …In Bloody Accidents
Eight persons on Friday lost their lives on the Accra-Kumasi high way in two separate gory road accidents.
The first, Jonathan Adzovor Tamakloe an Immigration Officer was confirmed dead in a fatal road accident on the same stretch on Friday.
He was travelling to Accra for his annual leave, according to his Unit at Zebilla in the Upper East Region when the incident occurred.
A statement issued by Superintendent David Asiedu Addo, the Officer In Charge of the Zebilla Office said the incident occurred at about 3pm on Friday between Kumasi and Konongo.
It sad according to reports, the Kumasi-bound STC KIA bus collided with the Tenisha HD-12 bus on which Tamakloe was on after a failed overtaking attempt from the STC driver.
The accident claimed several lives while others sustained injuries.
The statement said the body of the deceased Immigration Service Officer has been deposited at the New Juabeng Government Hospital morgue.
In the second case, seven people died with 40 others injured in an accident at Ejisu-Konongo on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred when a Kumasi-bound STC bus with registration number GR 2565 with 17 passengers collided with a Temsa Imperial Express bus numbered – GE 5959-19 at the Kubease portion of the road on Friday.
According to police report, the seven victims died on the spot while the injured have been rushed to the Ejisu and Komfo Anokye government hospitals.
Bodies of the deceased persons were conveyed and deposited at the Juaben Government hospital mortuary for identification and autopsy, police report said.
