The accused persons are said to have on April 3 this year at Baatsona near Spintex Road in Accra conspired with a common purpose to flout restrictions imposed by the president Nana Akufo-Addo.

It is the case of the prosecution led by ASP Kese Evans that the accused persons at about 4:30pm on the same day at Cambodia near Batsona participated in a private party attended by more than thirty people in violation of the imposition of restrictions on public gathering including private party.

Cuban Starboi and Morgan Silver are facing additional charges of using narcotic drugs without lawful authority while Frimpong was also slapped with a charge of unlawfully assaulting one Philip Nuworti, 52, a labourer.

Appearing in the court presided over by Priscilla Dappah Mireku the accused persons denied the charges and were remanded into police custody to reappear on April 14.

Frimpong was however, admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with two sureties to be gainfully employed, a condition he has not met as at the time of filing this report yesterday.

This was after his lawyer pleaded with the court for bail.

The Police’s Case

The complainants in the case are police officers stationed at the Baatsona Divisional Headquarters, Spintex Road while six of the accused persons are Nigerian immigrants living in an unmarked rented house at Cambodia.

The facts of the case narrates that on the said day, the police led by Detective Inspector Mathias Awudi were on an routine patrol code named “COVID-19 Safety” in order to enforce the ongoing restrictions imposed by the president to curb the spread of the corona virus disease.

On reaching Cambodia, the patrol team acting on intelligence spotted a large group of people numbering about forty including the accused persons gathered in the house of Frimpong.

The group according to the prosecution’s fact sheet were drinking and making merry at a party organized by Cubana Starboi and Morgan Silver to celebrate their birthdays and that they were also seen smoking dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The prosecution said the act was in violation of the presidents restrictions currently in force.

In view of this, the police raided the house and arrested 17 persons including the accused persons but Frimpong and others attempted to escape.

During Frimpong’s arrest seven wraps and three pieces of partly smoked dried leaves suspected to weed were retrieved from Cubana Starboi.

While investigation into the case was ongoing Frimpong went to the house of Nuworti and accused his nephew one Prosper Numorti of being behind the arrest of his tenants.

Frimpong searched for Proper but could not find him and as a result demanded Philip to produce him failing which he (Frimpong) pounced on him and beat him up.
