Two locals of Deduako near Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region have been shot and killed by some Fulani herdsmen after a clash on Wednesday, 24 January 2018.
The deceased, Kwaku Anim, 75; and Kofi Owusu, 60; together with some community members, were said to have launched an attack on the Fulani herdsmen while on their way from Agogo, and, in the process, killed about seven of the herdsmen’s cattle.
The Fulani herdsmen in retaliation killed two of the locals and injured one in a gun exchange, Nsuta Divisional Police Commander, DSP Charles Atuah, confirmed to Adehye FM’s Elisha Adarkwah.
He said the police had the official report and “had to visit the scene to convey the bodies of the two with multiple gunshot wounds” to the Mampong Government Hospital for an autopsy.
He noted that the case is under investigation but no arrests have been made “because the Fulani herdsmen have all escaped.”
