Dr. Spirit Clanton, the owner, founder and clinical Director of the Behavioral Health firm T2S Enterprise based in Atlanta in the United States of America is visiting Ghana.
The Four days visit from 27 May to 1 June 2023 seeks to among other things look at the progress of mental health care delivery in Ghana and other parts of Africa and how treatment and caregivers can work effectively on managing and reducing cases to the barest minimum.
Ms. Sally Torpey, a Ghanaian International Fashion Designer and CEO of Sallet Fashion House who doubles as the convener of the visit, in an interview disclosed in Accra and underscored the importance of this visit, one she described as opportune looking at the depressive times the world has to deal with in recent years.
According to Ms. Torpey, this visit brings a team of mental health experts/ professionals, documentarians and social sustainability consultants working together to create positive social impact through collaborative global partnership.
“During their time in Ghana, the group hopes to identify and visit significant organizations and persons throughout the country who are working to raise awareness, decrease stigma and increase access to mental health” she clarified.
According to Ms. Torpey, it is also an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s culture and its hospitable people to elicit a repeat visit and add to the tourism visits Ghana consistently enjoy annually.
The group while in Ghana will visit the Office of the President, Ghana mental health authority, Accra psychiatry hospital and later engage the media on mental health at stakeholders at the African Regent Hotel.
The group will also take time to visit Cape Coast Castle in the Central Region to acquaint themselves with the historical monuments situated in the Region.
