Dreams FC has confirmed the transfer of their rising star, Abdul Aziz Issah, to Barcelona.
The club completed the deal before the Spanish transfer deadline last Friday, although the specifics of the contract remain undisclosed. At just 18 years old, Issah becomes the second Ghanaian to join Barcelona during this transfer window, following the arrival of left-back David Oduro from Accra Lions.
Issah will initially join Barca Athletic, Barcelona’s reserve team, which competes in the Primera Federación – Group 1, the third tier of Spanish football.
With strong performances, he could earn opportunities to progress to the first team, much like Ansu Fati, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, and Lamine Yamal, who all began their careers in Barcelona’s youth ranks.
Issah gained significant attention last season with his exceptional performances in the CAF Confederation Cup, where he emerged as one of the competition’s top young talents, according to CAF.
He scored four goals and provided two assists in ten matches, playing a crucial role in leading Dreams FC to their first-ever semi-final, where they narrowly lost to Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek.
In the Ghana Premier League, Issah was instrumental in Dreams FC’s campaign, contributing to 17 goals with seven goals and ten assists. His impact extended to the FA Cup, where he netted four goals in five games. On the international stage, Issah was a key figure in Ghana’s U20 team, which secured gold at the Africa Games earlier this year.
