The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has issued a statement denying any alleged sponsorship of billboards featuring New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate Jefferson Sackey.
The association, in a statement signed by its Head of Communication, Takyi Addo, dated December 8, 2023, addressed recent speculations surrounding its purported involvement in the mounting or funding of political billboards.
In the official statement, the association asserted its non-political stance, making it clear that it refrains from engaging in political activities.
“The leadership of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association unequivocally disassociates itself from any claims linking it to the billboards associated with the NPP’s parliamentary candidate,” the statement stressed.
“The leadership takes the opportunity to assure both its members and the general public that any assertions suggesting the association’s participation in political activities are inaccurate,” the statement added.
The statement acknowledged the diversity of the association’s membership and conveyed that individual spare parts dealers may choose to support political candidates based on personal preferences.
However, it stated that these individual choices do not reflect the official position of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to a non-political stance, emphasising its dedication to ensuring that its activities remain focused solely on the welfare and interests of its members within the spare parts industry.
“The leadership of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association seeks to dispel any misconceptions regarding its political involvement and reiterates its unwavering dedication to serving the best interests of its members,” it said.
