About 2,000 Nation Builders’ Corps for GRA

Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti, the Commissioner General for Ghana Revenue Authority, on Wednesday said a total of 10,806 of the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO) persons have joined the authority.

Out of the number, 1,896 have been allocated for the domestic task revenue division, 8,360 for the custom division and 550 are being deployed to the various GRA offices nationwide.

He disclosed that an amount of 7,564,200 would be injected monthly into the economy by way of their allowances in respect of revenue Ghana model.

The GRA Commissioner who stated during the passing-out ceremony held in Accra for NABCO personnel across the Country said the NaBCo revenue Ghana personnel were to assist in mobilising and enhancing revenue collection throughout the country.

Providing statistics, Dr Ibrahim Anyass, NaBCo Coordinator disclosed that 146,968 applicants applied to be enrolled under the three-year Programme, but 100,000 were given the nod after the rigorous process.

Dr Anyass said, since President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the Programme on May Day this year to employ 100,000 youth; an application online was launched and received 146,968 applications, from an initial interest expressed from 175,000.

The applicants, he explained were taken through rigorous selection process within two months to employ the 100,000 with diploma and degree backgrounds.

They would be absorbed into the seven models; educate Ghana, heal Ghana, feed Ghana, revenue Ghana, enterprise Ghana, civic Ghana and digitise Ghana for the nation builder corps, he noted.

In a breakdown, Dr Anyass said Educate Ghana recorded the highest with 43,834 applications, followed by revenue Ghana with 3,195 applications whilst civic Ghana had 19,917 applications.

The Coordinator said digitize Ghana also recorded 16,620 applications, enterprise Ghana chalked 12,949 applications as heal Ghana scored 11,785 applications and feed Ghana had 8,934 applications.

He said the corps were now waiting for their institutional placements, adding that their impact would be felt at the various districts, towns and communities when they start working.

Mr Joseph Nimoh, Coordinator of the Krachi West who spoke with Ghana News Agency, said, personnel had to converge at one place for the passing-out as it was first of its kind.

It was an opportunity for the Ghanaian youth to come together in order not to see the Programme as political but ginger them to do their best by contributing their quota to national development.

Madam Sarah Da-Silveiro, a beneficiary said it was a privilege to have impact on the society with the knowledge acquired.
