‘Accra Heats Of Oak Is Cursed’
GLORIOUS ACCRA Hearts of Oak football club has been hit with a curse for allegedly abandoning its ‘real owners’, it has emerged.
Per the curse, the ‘Phobians’ can never win any major laurel again, until the curse is reversed through some traditional rituals.
Interestingly, the curse, which was allegedly invoked in Accra on November 11, 2017, coincided with the club’s 106th birthday.
Emmanuel Nartey, a linguist and great grandchild of one Asafoatse Nartey, who claimed to have invoked the curse, explained on Nhyira FM in Kumasi that his great grandfather, Asafoatse Nartey, was one of the original founding fathers of the club.
According to him, Hearts of Oak had in the past visited their shrine in Accra periodically and gave them the due respect as the ‘owners’ of the club, but lamented that the present management have turned their backs at them and also tainted the club’s spirit with ‘voodoo practices’.
He said Hearts’ spirit frowns on ‘Juju’ and noted that the present management had out of ignorance indulged in ‘Juju’ and in so doing hurt the spirit of the club.
“At first, before the start of every football season, the Hearts management would bring the players to us for spiritual purification.
“We used to tell the players about Hearts’ history and also bath them which to strengthen them spiritually and produce the good luck for the team.
“Now this management have turned their backs on us and started indulging in ‘Juju’, which is alien to the spirit of Hearts of Oak”, he said.
He recalled how the management stormed their shrine for prayers and spiritual direction a few seasons ago when the club was faced with relegation.
“After we helped them to escape relegation, they started visiting us but they have stopped coming again”, Nartey bemoaned.
According to him, they invoked the curse through the pouring of libation at their shrine since they have spiritual control over the club.
“This curse is meant to prevent Hearts from winning titles and it will only be reversed when management come to us and beg for forgiveness”.
He insisted that his family is the real ‘owner’ of Hearts and as such deserve to be given the recognition and respect that is due them.
