Veteran actor Mawuli Semevo is fighting for his life in the hospital after suffering severe burns in a fire accident.
His house caught fire on Friday, February 7, while he was asleep. Rescuers rushed him to the hospital for emergency medical care.
Reports reveal that the fire burned 44 percent of his body and caused a respiratory injury, making it difficult for him to breathe. Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the fire.
Beyond Burns International, an NGO that supports burn survivors in Ghana and across Africa, has launched a campaign to raise funds for his medical treatment.
The organization’s Executive Director, Judith Cato Addison, visited Semevo at the hospital on Saturday, February 8, and described his condition as critical.
“Guys, this is very serious. From his head to his legs, everywhere caught fire. He has lost all his hair, and his entire face is bruised,” she said in a Facebook video, urging the public to donate towards his treatment.
She further explained in the video report posted on the NGO’s social media pages, “Beyond Burns International received an SOS about this unfortunate incident. We came here today and found veteran actor Mawuli Semevo in a critical state after a severe fire accident. His life is hanging in the balance.”
As the actor fights for survival, the NGO and well-wishers continue to rally support to ensure he receives the necessary medical care.
