Celebrated Ghanaian movie maker, Nana Ama McBrown, has received threats on her life and business from Stephen Atubiga, a failed presidential candidate hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
Mr. Atubiga, on Saturday morning, took to his facebook timeline to accuse the actress of ‘knocking’ the head of former President John Mahama and using insulting words on him.
Atubiga said he was giving McBrown a 24-hour grace period to apologize to Mr. John Mahama and the leadership of the NDC or suffer arson attacks on all products she has endorsed as a brand ambassador and all movies she has acted in.
Stephen Atubiga also used very derogatory words on the calm-hearted McBrown, who has publicly denied the allegation that she ever insulted the former President either through her words or her deeds.
The exact words of insults and threats that were published on Setphen Atubiga’s timeline are these: “I am calling on all Ghanaians to boycott all Nana AMa MCBrown’s shows, any movie she has been featured in. Including all commodities she has endorsed. All the electronic product Nana Ama Brown has endorsed should be boycotted immediately by all.
“Her disrespect insulting with impunity on JDM shows, how irresponsible and Very childish she can be. She does not fit or have the moral right to endorse any product for public consumption. Nana Ama McBrown is a disgrace to herself integrity, to the highest level.
“Nana Ama Mcbrown has 24 hrs to retract and apologize to JDM and the leadership of the NDC, as JDM being our candidate and our leader.
“If Nana Ama fails to Apologize to JDM , 1000% regrets will come her way. Very irresponsible unacceptable behavior towards JDM. Well,
“We are calling on all her endorsements contracts abrogated, after 24hrs we will also come after her sponsors. Our supporters will burn her movies and most of the products she has endorsed, as protest of her irresponsible behavior towards JDM.
Let’s wait and see.”
I Never ‘Knocked’ Mahama Head
Nana Ama McBrown has officially denied the allegations and expressed surprise at the entire development.
“My attention has been drawn to a video in which a female figure, which some claim is me, can be seen under the cloak of darkness, knocking the head of the image of former President John Mahama on the screen of a TV during his Digital Conversation with Ghanaian last Thursday.
I hereby distance myself from that video. I am not the woman in the video. Neither will I ever behave in such a reprehensible manner towards the former President of Ghana whom I hold in high respect, or indeed any other person.
“Thank you”.
The said video of the unknown woman ‘knocking’ the head of the former president has gone viral on social media and attacked mixed comments.
While some laugh it off as a silly act of comedy, some have taken a strong exception to it and expressed varying levels of outrage.
A similar one in which a male was seen and heard doing same thing to the audiovisual image of President Nana Addo during one of his COVID-19 addresses also went viral on social media.
The exact sources of these videos remain unknown.
