Ada-West Assembly Pledges GH¢1.5m for Sege Market
The Ada-West District Assembly has reaffirmed its resolve to improve the living standard of residents through coordination with stakeholders to mobilize appropriate resources for the implementation of relevant socio-economic interventions.
In order to achieve this mission, the Assembly has identified the construction of a central market at Sege, the district capital, as a vital local economic development strategy.
Addressing a one-day business/investment forum to raise funds towards the construction of the market, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi, disclosed that plans are far advanced to ensure the completion of the market within the year, saying the planning and design stages of the project had already been completed.
Hon. Adzoteye Akrofi therefore called on private investors to partner with the Assembly for the project. He said the Assembly intends to propel the district into an industrial and business hub as well as a major transit point for goods, due to its proximity to Accra and Tema.
The chairman for the forum, Mr. Blaise Ofoe Mankwa, who is the Managing Director of Renaissance Africa Group Ltd, pledged his support for the project.
A 13-member committee was instituted to oversee the construction of the market project, estimated to cost GH¢1.5 million.
