Addo Kufuor Assures SSNIT Will Be Transparent
The Board chairman of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor has pledged that SSNIT will be transparent and forthcoming as the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), together with other security agencies carry out investigations into the case where the former director general of SSNIT and four others have been charged with causing financial loss to the state.
The former defense minister emphasized that SSNIT is going to cooperate and assist in any way they can to make sure any one culpable will be brought to justice.
Madam Gifty Anna, the secretary to SSNIT today stated that investigations has revealed that the OBS project which should have cost the firm 34 million dollars shot up to 66.8 million dollars on completion of the project. She continued to say some additional amount of 32 million dollars, as well as 36 million Ghana cedis was paid to PBS.
As it stands now the formal director general of SSNIT, Ernest Thompson together with Juliet Hassana Kramah, John Hagan Mensah, Caleb Afaglo and Thomas Sampson Owusu are going to be investigated on the grounds of causing financial loss to the state.
Mr. Addo Kuffour speaking to the press today said, SSNIT wants the Ghanaian worker to have the best when they go on pension and because of that they will do everything they can to get rid of the issues surrounding SSNIT.
“People believe SSNIT is not caring enough and the pensioner is given just a peanut when they go on pension, but that is not true”, he reiterated.
The board chair of SSNIT further declared it is the duty of SSNIT to make sure the pensioner gets the best deal possible and they will work very hard to ensure that.
