Adina: Surgery forced me to stop chewing meat

Award-winning Ghanaian born South African singer Adina Thembi says she has stopped eating meat after she had to undergo surgery after she was diagnosed with fibroid.

“I stopped eating meat after I went for surgery to remove a fibroid from my body. I did that because, after the surgery, I went to look at it and it was like meat” Adina told Hammer Nti on the show Hammer Time.

“I was told red meat contributes to the development of fibroid so I’m like I have to stop. I don’t know how true it is but since 2021, I haven’t eaten red meat”, she stressed.

Adina also said her fibroid made her look like she was pregnant and that got her a bit worried but had to go on with her music career.

Low Moments

She further said it’s difficult for some people to recognize celebrities as humans because they’re in the limelight.

During an interview on Property FM, the songstress said some people don’t consider that celebrities also have low moments.

“It’s just the fact that we’re also humans like everyone else but because we’re in the limelight so it’s a bit difficult for people to recognize that you’re actually human.

“And so the day they meet you and want to take a picture with you and they feel very happy, maybe that day you’re going through a bad breakup.

She added “Maybe you’ve heard some bad news that someone you love so much has died or something and you’re not in a good state. If the celebrity says maybe I can’t take the picture, they would interpret that as she’s very rude but people forget that we’re human”.

Busy

In addition, the talented musician disclosed what keeps her busy apart from doing music.

According to the musician who is also an actress and sometimes a model, she has established her own fashion business.

Adina indicated “My fashion business keeps me busy when I’m not recording or Performing and that’s why this year I’ve been quiet and I’m now releasing. I was establishing my fashion business properly but as for now, I’ve been able to get a showroom and a workshop.

“We have also gotten a new place where people who wish to learn how to sew come for hands-on training.

“And so that’s the other things that I do which keeps me busy and active apart from my music career,” she revealed.
