Aduana Target Massive Win Over Setif
Aduana Stars forward, Yahaya Mohammed, has charged his teammates to ensure a convincing victory over Algerian side, ES Setif, in today’s CAF Champions League second round first leg encounter at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Having eliminated Libyan outfit, Al Tahaddi, 2-1 in their preliminary round tie, Mohammed believes a 3-0 win at home over Setif would ensure Aduana’s passage to the group stage of the competition.
The 30-year-old striker, who is yet to make a significant impact in his side’s continental campaign this year, was quoted by Oyerepa FM as admitting that with the experience of Setif in the competition, it will be tough for Aduana to qualify at the expense of the Algerians.
“We admit they have experience more than us but they started somewhere and that’s the same way we are going to beat them to get the same experience and enter the group stage.
“We the experienced ones in the team have been speaking to the players that, at least, we should score not less than three goals to make the second match an easy one.
“We are preparing seriously for the match and thank God that I’m fit to play in this match,” he said.
Coach Yusif Abubakar is expected to line up a strong squad that can torment Setif at the Nana Agyemang Badu I park today and win big ahead of the second leg in Algeria.
The likes of goalie Joseph Addo, Akuoko Emmanuel, Noah Martey, Zakaria Mumuni, Nathaniel Asamoah, Bright Adjei and Derrick Sasraku, among others, must rise to the occasion and light up Dormaa-Ahenkroh with a glittering performance.
Setif, on the other hand, after arriving in the country last Saturday, trained at the Opoku Ware School Park in Kumasi ahead of today’s clash, having been denied entry to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The General Manager of Setif, Djihad Boulahdjilet, is optimistic his side can upset Aduana Stars away from home and make it to the group stage after defeating Olympique de Bangui of Central Africa Republic 6-0 on aggregate in the first round.
Boulahdjilet was hopeful his side would demote the Ghanaians to the CAF Confederation Cup by eliminating them over two legs, having monitored their games against Al Tahaddi.
