Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, would this morning be officially sworn in as the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Afenyo-Markin, Majority Leader in Parliament and Leader of Government Business, replaces Herbert Krapa as Board Chair of ECG.
Krapa vacated the Chair after he was appointed as a Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy.
The information that Afenyo-Markin is the new Board Chairman for ECG was contained in a letter from the Office of the President, dated Tuesday July 16, 2024 and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Secretary to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
It read: “The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin (MP.), Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (the “Company”).
“Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company.
“Please accept the President’s best wishes.”
The letter was addressed to Herbert Krapa and copies addressed to the Vice President, the Chief of Staff and the Majority Leader.
