The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has said the prospects of investing in the areas of real estate, tourism and agriculture in the area is extremely bright and called on investors to take advantage of the opportunity.
“We have worked hard and opened up Winneba and the entire Effutu area to an appreciable level; Effutu has become the future and a lot of persons who have seen the light are moving in to invest.
‘It is a golden era to invest in Effutu, work in Effutu, live in Effutu and explore the place. I invite everyone to come take advantage of the times we live in”, Afenyo-Markin noted.
Afenyo-Markin, who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament was speaking at an all-inclusive stakeholder’s engagement attended by traditional authorities, the clergy leadership, heads of educational institutions and businesses, investors, opinion leaders and social captains of his constituency.
He encouraged the youth of Effutu to seize the burgeoning opportunities within the community, particularly those springing from various empowerment initiatives led by Municipal Assembly and my Office.
“Shun all forms dishonourable conduct that waste these great opportunities. Instead, utilize these platforms to nurture your talents and actively contribute to the Effutu economic renaissance.
“Harness your entrepreneurial fervour, venturing into business and innovation spheres with gusto and passion. Remember, entrepreneurship means envisioning opportunities where others see hurdles and crafting solutions that elevate our society and reward you abundantly”, the MP added.
The Member of Parliament gave an account of some of his works in the constituency: “together, we have laid the foundation stones of growth in Effutu. Our strides are evident in the ongoing tissue factory project, a significant milestone in the government’s One District One Factory initiative. Located at New Winneba, and currently about 60 percent complete, the project is not merely an industrial establishment but a fountain of economic vitality. It promises to generate employment and foster economic growth within our constituency.
“In the realm of education, we have championed the establishment of sixteen modern libraries, making Effutu the Municipality with the highest number of public libraries in Ghana. Our collective efforts have turned Effutu into a hub of knowledge and learning. Also, our sustained empowerment program has ensured every teacher in Effutu is equipped with a laptop, catalysing a transformative learning environment for our students.
“We are nearing the completion of the Fishermen’s Landing Beach project, a testament to our unwavering dedication to uplifting the livelihoods of our local fisher folk. It will have a modern cold storage facility to preserve fish caught in our waters and also feature a vibrant fish market. Additionally, the establishment of day-care facilities to admit babies or pre-schoolers within our fishing communities is a significant step towards inclusivity and support.”
Afenyo-Markin then gave an insight into some of the key projects he is currently working on for the constituency: “In the sphere of education, we envision the construction of three secondary schools in the vibrant localities of Ateitu, Nsuekyire, and New Winneba. These institutions are conceived to be pillars of modern education, new knowledge and learning, moulding our youth to be proactive contributors to society.
“Our roadmap includes the pioneering initiative to set up a children’s hospital in Gyagyadze. This healthcare facility aims to emerge as a sanctuary of hope and wellness, offering top-notch healthcare services to families within and around Effutu.
“In the realm of tourism, we envisage the transformation of the renowned Sir Charles Beach into an International Beach Resort, a venture that promises to bolster our local economy and carve Effutu on the global tourism map.
“As we stand amidst our remarkable achievements, we recognize the journey that lies before us. A journey adorned with aspirations, and the relentless determination to transform the Effutu Dream into a living reality where prosperity is woven into the fabric of every citizen’s life.”
