Afoko Attacks NPP Again
SUSPENDED CHAIRMAN of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has accused the current leadership of the party of practicing ‘selective justice’, which, to him, is rapidly tearing the party apart.
It is not the first time Mr. Akofo has publicly slammed the NPP.
Describing the party’s Disciplinary Committee (DC) as a ‘toothless bulldog’, he said he did not understand why some members are left off the hook when they clearly violate the party’s regulations, while others are severely punished for the same crimes.
“Why did they refer Obiri Boahen’s case to the Steering Committee and not the Disciplinary Committee? The party is clearly showing bias in handling the Obiri Boahen case, after he had clearly breached the party’s laid down rules and regulations”, Lawyer Nana Yaw Osei, spokesperson for Afoko, queried in an interview with Kofi Asante of Nhyira FM in Kumasi on Monday.
Sounding peeved, he said that Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong were falsely accused of being bribed with a vehicle by the NDC, and wondered how a person who once doled out $5 million to support Akufo-Addo’s campaign, could collect bribe from his political opponents.
“Do you think that Paul Afoko, who gave Nana Akufo-Addo five million dollars from his own pocket, could stoop so low and be bribed with a car? How much is a car?”
Lawyer Osei said the NPPs Disciplinary Committee ceased to function after Kwabena and his client were suspended from the party.
According to him, some faceless people only wanted to see Afoko and Agyepong out of the party “and they have achieved their aim now”.
