The Afrancho stool has remained vacant for 21 years since Nana Asumadu Poku, the former Afrancho Chief, was destooled.
According to the Concerned Youth and Elders of Afrancho in the Affigya Kwabre South District, the vacant stool is a great worry to them.
Kwabena Asamoah, an ex-Assemblyman, who spoke on behalf of the group, said the area had retarded in growth.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, he indicated that reports of violence and indiscipline has been on the rise because they have no traditional leader.
Kwabena Asamoah also said some people have taken advantage of the situation to sell community lands to developers and pocket the cash.
According to him, if the Afrancho stool is allowed to remain vacant, it would be extremely difficult for the community to experience any development.
In this regard, he has appealed to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to install a new chief to lead the area into affluence.
Kwabena Asamoah stated that residents of Afrancho appreciates Otumfuo’s roles to resolve the chieftaincy dispute in the area, saying “we want a chief”.
