Africa’s number of confirmed Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases has reached 84,634.
The number of recoveries, as at May 18, has also increased to 32,494.
The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (AfricaCDC) made the announcement in a tweet.
It said some 2,766 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded.
The tweet said, ” #COVID19 update in Africa (As of 18 May 2020 9am East Africa Time) 54 @_AfricanUnion Member States reporting 84,634 cases, 2,766 deaths, and 32,494 recoveries.”
Ghana’s cases so far
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has risen to 5,918 after 183 new cases were confirmed.
This is according to the Ghana Health Service’s latest update on Tuesday morning [May 19, 2020.]
Two new deaths have also been confirmed, increasing the toll to 31.
The number of persons who have recovered from the virus in Ghana, however, remains at 1,754.
The new cases were recorded in six regions, with the most being in the Greater Accra region.
