Veteran Gospel musician Yaw Sarpong has said, the zeal and willingness to feature more secular musicians after his latest song, Ahobrase3 with Sarkodie will not end anytime soon.
He made this known in an interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on the Best Entertainment Show last Monday. According to him, he is ready to feature more secular artistes on his upcoming album including Dancehall musician Shatta Wale.
”If the opportunity comes for me to feature Shatta Wale and the song will motivate, bring positivity to the lifestyle of the public. I would gladly do it. There’s nothing wrong featuring a secular musician” he said.
Talking of how he managed to get Sarkodie on the song, he said about three years ago, Sarkodie granted an interview while on a visit to the US and said he listened to his (Yaw Sarpong’s) songs a lot.
“Someone drew my attention to it and I decided to look for him. I was asked to contact Andy Dosty of Hitz FM which I did and you can imagine how excited I was when I received a call from Sarkodie saying he had been looking for me for a very long time.
“He invited me to his wedding at the Labadi Beach Hotel and there too, he acknowledged me telling everyone that he has been listening to me since his childhood. We even did one of my songs at his wedding and planned to do a collaboration, and here we are today,” he indicated.
“The humility and sacrifice of him cannot be measured. From afar, I saw and thought otherwise of him but getting closer to him on the AHOBRASE3 song, I saw a different character in him. He really surprised me. My featuring with him has been a blessing.” he added.
Known for popular songs like Wayɛ Awie, Esther, Judas, Yenka Nkyere Agya (Joseph) and Hawa, Yaw Sarpong made it known of his preparedness towards the release of his next studio album titled Evergreen. –
