Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has indicated that, despite the negative outcome out of her Sing-A-thon attempt, as confirmed by Guinness World Records (GWR), she remains a winner and appreciates the genuine love from Ghanaians and all people across the globe.
The disclosure which was made in a Facebook reads, “the news of the outcome of my Sing-a-thon attempt came few minutes as I was preparing to host a gala dinner and the launch of the Lebanese Scholarship Alumni Network attended by the President President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I would announce my next line of action in few days. Thank you all for your love and support. When life hands you lemons, turn them to lemonade. Success is sweetest when snatched out of the jaws of defeat.”
The winner declaration follows a revelation through a post on the official Guinness World Records platform stating, “unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.”
Afua believes that despite the results from Guinness World Records not being positive as expected, the perception that she hid the results when sent to her from her fans is false and can’t represent the true reality of situations.
She explained that, the fans, all Ghanaians and all people across the globe mean a lot to her and couldn’t have hid such an important information from them.
A close source from her camp explains to this paper that, Afua Asantewaa herself would be present on GTV Morning Show early Monday morning to give a truthful account of everything.
This comes after Afua Asantewaa in 2023 took on the challenge to beat the existing record which stands at 105 hours set in 2012.
Asantewaa endured a five-day singing marathon which began at midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023 and ended at 7:00 am on December 29, 2023.
At the time she ended her record attempt on Friday morning, the young woman had sung for five days, six hours and 55 minutes.
Ending her record attempt on an emotional note, Afua Asantewaa sang Osibisa’s ‘Woyaya’.
The national anthem was played to honour her and celebrate her efforts. She was also announced as a Tourism Ambassador by the Ghana Tourism Authority days later.
