Agyarko Was Sacrificed to Save Situations – Inusah Fuseini
The Minority Spokesperson on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Mr Inusah Fuseini is of the believe, the sacking of the former Minister of Energy, Mr Boagye Agyarko from office was done as a result of sacrifice for the NPP government.
According to the former Lands Minister, per his experience in government operation, Boagye Agyarko can never have strike such a deal with in his own powers without approval from certain government officials.
”I can tell you for a fact, there were some FACELESS individuals behind acceptance to this deal. It wouldn’t have been reviewed to this level by only the supervision of himself alone as Boagye Agyarko being the Energy Minister. HE was sacked because he is the FACE in the public space. ” he said on THE BIG ISSUE on Citi Tv.
He believes government should take responsibility of the critics which has mounted aftermath of the deal than solely falling all blames on the former Minister. Explaining further, he expressed no doubt in Boagye Agyarko’s facebook post after his sacking stating that, he will speak out at the right time.
President Akufo-Addo on Monday, August 6, 2018, sacked the Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko. A statement from the Communications Directorate of the Presidency said Mr. Agyarko’s firing “takes immediate effect.”
On the renegotiated AMERI deal which was brought to Parliament with an executive approval, Eugene Arhin said the government has taken a decision to withdraw it.
Mr Inusah Fuseini believes the newly Ameri deal by the NPP government was such a bad agreement, badly conceived, and badly delivered and that led to this sad outcome witnessing by Ghanaians.
Before the sack
The action comes after a pro-government newspaper the Statesman reported the President was misled when he okayed the agreement for parliamentary consideration.
Mr Agyarko has been under growing public pressure to resign with workers of the Volta River Authority being the latest to call for his dismissal.
The workers say the Minister had demonstrated he “is absolutely not on top of his job” after he reviewed a 2015 deal entered into by the Mahama administration which the Akufo-Addo government promised to review because the $510 million deal was over-priced by $150m.
But with about two and a half years for the 5-year deal with Dubai-based company Africa & Middle East Resources Investment Group (AMERI) to run out, the Energy Ministry announced the deal has been revised as the government promised.
