Akosua Adjepong’s Accuser Gets GH₵55K Refund

There has been a new development in the alleged fraudulent case against Ghanaian musician, Akosua Agyapong, as she and her alleged accomplice have begun paying their accuser.

Akosua Agyapong and one Frank Agyemang Badu a building contractor have been accused of allegedly collecting GH¢105,000 from one Jonas Asamoah under the pretext of providing him with a parcel of land.

Although the case is still before an Accra Circuit Court which is yet to determine the outcome of the allegations, her accuser has been paid a total amount of GH¢55,000 as refund.

The amount was paid in two folds, with the first payment being GH¢25,000 which was made in February this year and the other installment of GH¢30,000, made somewhere last month.

This leaves the two accused persons with an amount of GH¢50,000 to pay their accuser who has also initiated a civil suit against them at an Accra High Court.

Meanwhile, the civil matter at the High Court against the two has been adjourned to June 26, 2018.

This was after Akosua Agyapong’s lawyer was unable to file additional issues for direction on the case against his clients.

Appearing before the court yesterday, the lawyer, B.T Agbley, told the court that he was unable to file the application because he has been unwell. However this did not go down well with the plaintiff’s lawyer, Peter Asante-Acquah, who accused Mr. Agbley of not helping matters as far as the case was concerned.

He said he had filed his application for direction on May 9, 2018 and his colleague promised to file his response and has since then not done so.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter to June 26, 2018.

Akosua Agyapong and Frank Agyemang Badu are before an Accra Circuit Court where they are facing conspiracy to commit crime by a fraudulent transaction of land charges.

They plead “not guilty”, and were granted bail by the court somewhere last year.

Although the outcome of the case has not been determined yet, the complainant took another step by filing a writ against them at the High Court.

In his statement of claim, Mr. Asamoah, a car dealer claimed he wanted a parcel of land and approached Akosua Agyapong who had one at Tuba near Kasoa.

He said Akosua wanted to release the land for lease so she introduced him to Frank who had one plot of land opposite the West Hills Mall for sale.

He claims that he made a part payment of GH¢105,000 on separate occasions to the two and later gave a Rav4 vehicle to Frank for another plot of land.

He however could not work on the land as another person claiming ownership emerged warning him to stay away from the said land.

He reported the matter to the police and the vehicle has since been retrieved for him.

Mr. Asamoah is therefore claiming the recovery of the GH¢105,000 being the total amount he paid to Ms. Akosua and Agyemang as part payment for the plot of land.

He is also asking for interests on the stated amount from January 31, 2017 at the prevailing bank rates.
