Akoto Disrespecting Parliament – Minority
The Minority in Parliament has accused the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, of disrespecting parliament.
The claim of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers follows continuous failure of the minister to honour invitations to the legislature.
Dr Akoto, who was scheduled to answer a question from Juaboso MP, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on unapproved cocoa insecticides being sold on the market, failed to turn up on Thursday, 17 May 2018.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak said the minister must not be allowed to continue to snub the house.
However, Deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Safo, explained that Dr Akoto failed to turn up because he was out of the country.
Speaker Prof Mike Oquaye said the minister must appear before the House in parson on Friday, 18 May 2018.
