Akoto Osei Would Have Been A Better Finance Minister – Adongo
The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo is of the view that the Minister of Evaluation and Monitoring at the Jubilee House, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei would have managed the economy far better than the current Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
According to him, all Mr. Ofori Atta has done since his appointment by the President is to look for business opportunities to enrich himself.
“The people that the NPP are missing is that dreaded combination that Kufuor had at the Ministry of Finance, Chartered Accountant the late Baah Wiredu and Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, that is what the NPP is missing.
“We have an economy just basically being run by a businessman who is basically looking for business opportunities to enrich himself…in 2009 Databank was liquidity strapped, Databank should have gone down but it was hand held, today the minister of finance has no shame and he does business with his own company for the state at the Ministry of Finance.
“Databank is a joint book runner at the Bank of Ghana which is recruited by the Ministry of Finance,” Mr. Adongo told Starr FM Wednesday, adding that “infact Akoto Osei is the defacto finance minister we are missing today.”
Dr. Adongo added that the economy has been poorly managed by Mr. Ofori Atta in the last two years which has created more hardships for the citizens.
He also accused the Finance Minister of deliberately collapsing the local banks to enable his cronies pick them for pieces.
“The Banks are laying off workers…Beige is laying off 500 workers and there are plans to lay 5000 people…today you work at the banking sector at the peril of your life if Ken Ofori Atta still sits there because he will collapse the sector…clearly he has created the conditions for Ghanaian banks to fail so that his cronies will pick them up for pieces.”
