Akpaloo Calls for Emergency IPAC Meeting
The flag-bearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana formerly known as the Independent People’s Party, Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to call for an immediate IPAC meeting to address some issues he deems as pending.
According to him, issues such as the referendum for the creation of new region, and the District Assembly Election needs to be addressed, hence the need for the EC to call for an Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting.
In an interview with THE PUBLISHER yesterday, he said “since October 2016 that we had an IPAC meeting, we have not had anything since so we want to call the EC to organize an IPAC meeting for us to sit down as political experts and deliberate on the way forward as to how we should go about them.”
Meanwhile, there has been tension recently emanating from the Electoral Commission.
Some workers of the Electoral Commission recently filed a petition against the Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, calling for a full-scale probe into various allegations, including willfully causing financial loss to the state and abuse of office.
The concerned staff of the Commission claim her decision to cancel a contract awarded to Superlock Technologies Limited (STL), a company contracted to supply and manage Biometric Voter Registration machines (BVRs) and the Biometric Voter Devices (BVDs), as well as her directive for the payment of $76,000 to IT firm, Dream Oval, were fraudulent.
Touching on this, Mr. Akpaloo has called for the need to bring calm at the Electoral Commission.
He called on stakeholders to assist in helping the EC solve their internal issues.
“As stakeholders we need to sit down with them and find the way out as to how we can help them solve their internal issues,” he mentioned.
