Akuapem Poloo will be an evangelist after jail – Kumchacha

Founder and Leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministry, Prophet Nicholas Osei well known as Kumchacha has prophesied that actress Akuapem Poloo would be a great evangelist after serving her jail term.

Speaking on the Monday edition of Okay FM’s ‘Best Entertainment Show’, Kumchacha said Akuapem Poloo’s jail sentence is for a general good adding that, it was meant to happen.

“I’m not happy for the fact that Akuapem Poloo is in prison. We are all praying for God’s protection for her but it is for the general good. God is going to use her for His work. She would be a great evangelist after serving her jail term. This is a prophecy. It was meant to happen. God revealed that to me” he said.

This comes after the Criminal Court 1 Division of the High Court last Wednesday, December 1 threw out an appeal filed by lawyers of the actress.

Akuapem Poloo was handed a 90-day jail term by an Accra Circuit Court for publishing obscene material and violating the dignity and integrity of her seven-year-old son in a nude photo she posted on social media in June 2020.

Though she served a period into her term, her lawyers appealed the judgement considering it too harsh.

She was subsequently granted a ¢80,000 bail, pending the determination of the appeal.

On Wednesday, the Court presided by Justice Ruby Aryeetey found her appeal without merit, therefore, ordered her to go and continue her 90-day imprisonment.

The court also ordered that her son should be given to any competent person in the family to take care of him, while his mother serves her sentence at the Nsawam Prison.

Meanwhile her lawyers led by Andrew Kudzo Vortia have filed a notice of appeal to challenge that decision and notice for bail.

A copy of the notice of appeal stated as follows;

“Please take note that the convict/appellant/appellant hearin, being aggrieved by the judgement of the High Court Criminal Division (1)Accra, Her Ladyship Ruby Aryeetey dated 1st December 2021 dismissing the appellant appeal against the conviction and sentenced to 90 days imprisonment imposed on the appellant on each count to run concurrently by Her Honour Mrs Christiana Cann dated April 16, 2021 hereby appeals to the court of appeal on the grounds set out below and for the release stated here under.

“That the learned judge erred in failing to appreciate that as a young first offender and a single parent, a noncustodial sentenced of a fine instead of a custodial sentence of 90days imposed on the appellant by the trial court is appropriate in this case”.

“That the custodial sentence of 90 days imposed on the appellant be set aside and in lieu, be substituted with a non-custodial sentence or a fine,” it stated.

Aside, the notice to appeal, the lawyers have also filed for bail pending the determination of the appeal.

The notice for bail application would be moved on December 15, 2021.
