Debate as to whether President Akufo-Addo will contest for another seat in office of the presidency has been very loud since attaining or winning seat at 2016.
Gabby Otchere-Darko, a very close person to President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that, the man Akufo-Addo has the strength and ready to contest for another seat in office.
According to him, because of the passion which the President has for the job, four years will not be enough for him to institute all his plans for a better Ghana.
Speaking to the media at the just ended National Delegates Conference, he stated clearly that, he is optimistic President Akufo-Addo will contest for another seat in office.
“My fear is that he works too hard. In terms of his physical endurance, he has more than even me, and I am 20 years younger than him…and he is alert.
“What feeds the physical is also the conviction. He feels that he has to achieve something and I feel he paces himself in a way that can keep him going in a sense that it is the work that keeps him going. It is not about the perks of the office,” he said.
Akufo-Addo has over the time refused to answer questions on whether he’ll run for another election after serving his first 4 years but others especially members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have cited the President’s age, 74, as a basis for urging him to step down and not to contest for another election.
Top Government Officials has for some time now attest to the media that, there is a possibility of Akufo-Addo contesting for the Presidential position.
Mr-Darko’s recent comments will be the third time a top government official in the current administration has suggested that the President will seek re-election despite the President’s own comments which were understood to mean he may not seek reelection.
Speaking to Joy News at Saturday’s conference, Gabby Otchere-Darko said, “I hope his appointees don’t let him down…as far as I know, he is definitely ready for another term and he is running for another term, God willing.”
